Beginnings and Endings

Linoprint on paper

Inspired by Ernest Hemingway’s The Old Man and the Sea, this work reflects persistence, solitude, and the quiet strength of daily labor.

The fisherman becomes a metaphor for endurance, the act of returning again and again to one’s craft, even when the sea remains still.

“He was an old man who fished alone in a skiff in the Gulf Stream and he had gone eighty-four days now without taking a fish.”

— Ernest Hemingway, The Old Man and the Sea
